The Eiffel Tower is a metal tower built on the Champ de Mars beside the River Seine in Paris, France. It is the tallest building in Paris, the fifth tallest structure in France and perhaps the most recognizable monument in Europe. Named after its designer, engineer Alexander Gustave Eiffel

Construction work lasted for 2 years, 2 months and 5 days (from 28 January 1887 to 31 March 1889) was carried out 300 workers. Record time contributed to the construction of extremely high quality drawings with exact size of 18,038 metal parts, which are used to build 2.5 million rivets.

The Eiffel Tower is the most visited monument in the world. Including the 24 m (78.7 ft) antenna, the structure is 324 m (1063 ft) high (since 2000). In 1902, it was struck by lightning, it meant that 300 feet of the top had to be reconstructed and the lights illuminating the tower had to be replaced, as they were damaged by the high energy of the lightning. The structure of the Eiffel Tower weighs 7300 tons.
